What an exciting day for our project!
We have the great honor of having Simon Reid-Henry here as a guest for two full days. Today Simon did a book talk on his new fascinating book Empire of Democracy, a close to 800 pages book on the history of democracy in the West from 1945 until today. With an astonishing overview, Simon guided us through a series of making and remaking of democracy in the West, pointing out just how transformative the years from 1968-1974 were. After that, Simon and our colleague Mikkel Thorup participated in a research project workshop, where we presented the main lines of our project and some of our ideas and plans for publications, conferences and other activities.
For us, it was a great opportunity to invite Simon into our research laboratory, discussing current ideas, concepts, and notions of geography, historical actors, and much more. Research requires much individual work and discipline – but it is also a collective effort!
